UPDATE: Wrights Mill Road bridge to reopen May 9

UPDATE, May 9: Wrights Mill Road bridge will reopen today, May 9, by 9 a.m.
The bridge was originally scheduled to be closed for two weeks, but after testing and inspection this morning, engineers have determined the concrete repairs have cured and the bridge is ready to reopen.
Repairs completed for Wrights Mill Road bridge; bridge reopened
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Wrights Mill Road bridge and I-85 North have both been reopened to traffic ahead of the two-week estimation.
Repairs to the Wrights Mill Road bridge were completed earlier this week and the concrete has cured to allow traffic.
After concrete was poured on Monday, May 6, the contractor began minor work on the interstate and then reopened all lanes on I-85 around noon on Wednesday, May 8.
The contractor, Scott Bridge Company, was able to progress work around the clock since beginning work on Tuesday, April 30, and complete repairs in a little over a week instead of the two-week estimation.
The Wrights Mill Road bridge was damaged during a crash on Saturday, April 27, ALDOT completed inspection and finalized plans for repairs on Monday, April 29.
ALDOT is appreciative of all that have worked continuously to complete the repairs to the Wrights Mill Road bridge and to the traveling public for their patience.

All lanes on I-85 North open at Wrights Mill Road
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – All lanes on I-85 North are open to traffic at Wright Mills Road bridge.
The outside lane has been closed since last week as the contractor made repairs to the Wrights Mill Road bridge.
On Monday, May 6, the contractor poured concrete and then began minor work on the interstate.
Wrights Mill Road bridge is estimated to open in the next 24 hours.

Wrights Mill Road bridge repairs begin Tuesday
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Transportation completed their inspection of the Wrights Mill Road bridge over I-85 on Monday afternoon.
ALDOT inspected the bridge and finalized plans to repair the bridge after being struck on Saturday, April 27.
At approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, crews will begin placing signs and installing a concrete barrier at milepost 54 on I-85 North at the Wrights Mill Road bridge. The concrete barrier will be in place for the safety of the people in the work zone since the outside lane will remain closed until work is complete.
Once the barrier is in place work will begin on the bridge.
Due to the location of the damaged part of the bridge and for the safety of crew members, Wrights Mill Road will remain closed. Travelers should seek alternate routes through City of Auburn or ALGOTraffic.com.
The contractor, Scott Bridge Company, will progress work around the clock to complete repairs prior to the estimated two weeks.

UPDATE, April 29: From ALDOT:
Lane closed on I-85 North in Lee County for bridge inspection
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – At approximately 10 a.m. today, the Alabama Department of Transportation will close the outside lane on I-85 North at the Wright’s Mill bridge at milepost 54 in Lee County.
The lane closure will be in place for ALDOT personnel to complete inspection of the Wright’s Mill bridge. The bridge was damaged during a crash over the weekend.
Once needed repairs are identified, ALDOT will have a contractor ready to begin work.
The bridge will remain closed while the inspection is taking place. Once the inspection is complete a determination will be made for reopening the bridge.

AUBURN, Ala. - The Wrights Mill Road bridge is currently closed while ALDOT inspects and repairs the bridge following an accident on I-85.
Motorists are advised to detour around the closure to cross the interstate at the Moores Mill Road Bridge, utilizing East University Drive to Moore's Mill Road north of I-85, and Ogletree Road and Moore's Mill Road south of I-85.
